Musings from designer Cindy Keasler on finding inspiration in wonderful quilted works of art.
Webster’s definition of pattern:
1. A repeated decorative design
2. A model or design used as a guide in needlework and other crafts
And pattern is what we saw while attending the 2014 Chattanooga Quilt Show.
Patterns were found in individual fabrics in various colors and scale…
Actual quilts were created as an overall design made of different fabrics and other materials…
Often textures and “bling” were used to add visual interest!
And the quilts were sewn together using various threads which often became another pattern within the overall design…
With this many opportunities to use pattern in different ways every quilt becomes an original work of art!
